I am an applied microeconomist specializing in Energy and Environmental Economics. My research is centered on renewable energy and the environmental effects of policies, including Daylight Saving Time adjustments and regulatory constraints imposed by Homeowner's Associations (HOAs).Â
My job market paper examines how HOA restrictions affect residential solar adoption. Some states prohibit HOAs from restricting solar installations, while others still allow it. I exploit this policy variation, along with cross-zip code differences in HOA penetration, to estimate the effect of HOA-imposed barriers on solar uptake. Using two-way fixed effects and difference-in-differences models, I find that higher HOA presence is associated with lower solar adoption, particularly in states that allow HOA restrictions. These results point to a significant but understudied regulatory friction in the residential clean energy transition.
I am on the 2025-2026 job market.
