In the summer of 2025, I worked as a research intern in the Community Development and Regional Outreach department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. I supported the work of a Research Economist for a policy brief on property insurance costs and provided data verification for another research project within the Bank. This role strengthened my data analysis and communication skills while giving me valuable exposure to research conducted in a nonacademic setting.
Key responsibilities:
Collected, cleaned, and analyzed large datasets using SQL and Stata
Created detailed geographic visualizations and maps using R
Translated SQL code into Stata for data verification
Prepared and delivered an internal presentation for a policy brief
Gained hands-on experience conducting applied economic research in a policy-driven environment
Graduate Research Assistant
Georgia Institute of Technology, 2022 - 2023
As a Graduate Research Assistant, I worked under a faculty advisor on a project involving high-frequency energy data. This position was my first deep exposure to academic research and helped me build skills in data cleaning, econometric analysis, and communicating research. It also taught me how to collaborate with other researchers and create reproducible work.
Key responsibilities:
Cleaned and processed large-scale sub-hourly energy datasets using Stata
Gained hands-on experience applying econometric tools to real-world energy data
Developed critical thinking around data structure, use, and limitations in economic analysis
Created a comprehensive replication package to ensure research transparency and reproducibility
Built foundational experience in academic research and economic data work
